I grew up in a home, in a family, in a culture where all knew that there wasn't a problem that a cup of tea couldn't fix. Where a cup of coffee is the first thing my mother and I look for as a ceremonial start to any of our outings. Born on the continent of Africa, as a Lebanese woman, now living in the United States- all so different, with few ties that bind. One thing that was never lost was the ritual of coffee and the sacred space that tea creates. In some way, shape or form, this translates around the world. Each culture, each country, each person with their own moment to enjoy that cup of coffee or tea, should they choose to savor. Something I have learned to love. A love that translates to the chosen name of this celebration of the moments we solidify with the cup of coffee or tea we place in our hands. Albi, the Arabic word for "my heart" - the name that has echoed throughout my life as my father has called my mother and I this for as long as I can remember.
